Gladys Abano, 28 years old, married, first consulted doctors at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) last November 2010 due to easy fatigability and pallor. After testing, Gladys was found to have a decreased hemoglobin count, thus blood transfusions were recommended.
But due to persistent and recurrent signs and symptoms, work-ups were done, where Gladys underwent bone marrow aspiration and biopsy. Results of the work-ups revealed that Gladys has Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) – refractory leukemia.
Gladys underwent her first round of chemotheraphy last December 2010. She recently underwent her second round of chemo sessions last March 2011, but repeat flow cytometry revealed a relapse of AML. Gladys has been recommended to undergo another round of chemotheraphy (Metoxantrone and Etoposide) sessions.
Please pray for Gladys as she undergoes her next round of chemo sessions. Give her the strength to withstand the effect of the chemo drugs that her body has to take in. Please pray also for her family, that they have the strength and resolve to sustain Gladys physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
EPCALM is also imploring on your generosity to support Gladys financially. Leukemia as a disease is financially draining and Gladys and her family needs all the help that they can get.
