Ellinwood Malate Church (EMC) is now officially a partner of EPCALM. The partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 11 November 2012 in Manila, which confirms that EMC will assist EPCALM carry out the effective implementation of its four-point Pastoral Care Ministry Program under the Spiritual Arm component.
EMC will constitute a team of pastoral and intercessory leaders to minister to adult leukemia patients and their families. Further, EPCALM will assign a Coordinator for each leukemia patient, who will ensure their preparedness for EPCALM’s Pastoral Care Ministry Program services. The assigned Coordinator will document all these activities and services, and provide regular updates of old and new patients to the EMC Pastor-in-Charge.
Moreover, EPCALM will provide seminar-workshops to EMC volunteers to equip them in understanding adult leukemia as a disease, the patient’s flow chart, managing grief and other training programs, which may be deemed necessary for the efficient delivery of its Spiritual Arm services. EPCALM will also provide spiritual books, CDs and other information resources to be given or loaned out to leukemia patients.
EMC is one of the local churches of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP), and is located at 1660 Dr. A. Vasquez Street, Malate, Manila. EMC was represented in the signing ceremony at the EMC Library were its Senior Pastor, Rev. Isagani V. Deslate; and Rev. Ron A. Camcam, Associate Pastor and Head of its Christian Witness and Service (CWS) Program Ministry, who was also designated as the Pastor-in-Charge who will spearhead this partnership.
For its part, EPCALM was represented by Engr. Justice Z. Demerre, President and Chief Executive Officer; and Dr. Erlyn P. Cabanag-Demerre, EPCALM Founder and Chair of the Board of Trustees. Other MOU signatories included Elder Godofredo Castillo Jr., EMC Church Council Chair; and Emma Magsino, EPCALM Executive Director.
